Welcome to the Tracie Mahan Photography blog. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...First of all, my name is Tracie Mahan. I live in Paris, TN with my husband Sam and son Max. After having Max in March 2008 I became obsessed with taking pictures of him. I wanted to remember everything about those first days he was here because I knew they wouldn’t last long. A year later I think I have successfully documented his whole first year of life! And now I am itching to do more. Not that I don’t want to keep taking pictures of cute little Max, but I want to capture some of these special moments for other people too.
Right now I’m in the early stages of building my photography portfolio and I would LOVE to take pictures for you! My style of photography isn’t harsh studio lighting and uncomfortable poses. I want to capture your life the way you live it. I will come to your home, the park near your house, a birthday party (you can always take me to the beach) or just where ever you’re in your element.
As I said before, right now I’m building my portfolio. A session includes 1-2 hours of my time and talent as well as 15-20 low-resolution web files that can be used on your own personal blog, facebook or just emailing.
Simple. Real. Natural. Family. Home. Those are the words that come to mind when I think about the photography I love. If you are interested and would like to set something up, contact me at tracie@traciemahanphotography.com

Preparation
If it's too cold to be outside, it's rainy or you just prefer indoor pictures, I can do it. Open up all the blinds and let as much sunlight light into your house as possible.
(Natural lighting is the most flattering for portraits.)
In some cases we may need to move some furniture around to get the best lighting for the picture. Make sure the rooms in your house are clutter free and make a pretty background.
If you're planning on changing outfits please have them laid out and ready to go.
Here are a few tips on getting dressed for you pictures...
Newborns are pretty cute in just their bithday suit. Parents can also wear black or white for some neat poses with the new baby.
Babies in diapers are a favorite. If you have a solid diaper cover you might want to have it handy. Anything comfortable with bright colors or patterns is good. Stay away from anything with writing on it as it can be distracting from the cute little face.
Everyone else just be you. Don't feel like you have to put your boys in suits when they are the jeans and boots kind. Little girls, feel free to wear bright colors and big bows. Moms and Dads just be comfortable. Don't try to get everyone in the picture to match, rather make sure the clothes compliment each other.
That's all I can think of right now but if you have any questions or suggestions,
please let me know!!
